Repulse Bay and the Beaches
Although Hong Kong is seldom associated with beaches, you don’t have to drive far to experience magnificent soft sand lengths. Though not too touristy, Repulse Bay beach is the most popular beach in Hong Kong with beautiful views and a great swimming place.
Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha Statue)
Over Lantau Island’s Po Lin Monastery is located the 34-meter high “Big Buddha,” which until 1993 was a rather remote site. This is one of the world’s largest Buddha sculptures and has taken twelve years. The magnitude, both in sight and from afar, is amazing. The location here is likewise wonderful, with views of the sea and the islands and surrounded by the green forest.
